Patti Preston Back to Top

|
Patti Preston has a bachelors degree in English with a theater minor from delta state university; an AND (associates in nursing) from Midway college; and an Associates degree in CTE from EKU. She is about 10 hours away from her BS degree in CTE from EKU. After graduation from DSU, she got married, had a family, and worked a variety of part time jobs. Once she realized that her liberal arts degree did not qualify for anything, she returned to school for the nursing degree. She had a widely varied and wonderful career in nursing as a hospital nurse, she “floated” in med-surg, ICU, OB, and ER. Her true love however was in geriatrics. She worked in a nursing home where she served as a staff nurse, a careplan coordinator, a staff development coordinator, and briefly as a director of nursing. Her decision to teach was based on the ability to spend more time at home with her family. While she misses day-to-day contact with patients, she loves teaching and enjoys being at the school. She started teaching at Harrodsburg ATC in the fall of 2002, her favorite subject in school was English. Outside of school she follows the sports her kids are involved in: volleyball, baseball, and softball. She is an officer in 2 booster clubs; she runs from game to game and from fundraiser to fundraiser. She attends St. Peter and St. Paul Catholic Church, where she teaches in the youth lifeteen and edge programs. Her hobbies include music, reading, writing, crafts, board games, cards and vegging out in front of the TV watching HawthoRNe and Drop Dead Diva. She originally grew up in Tallahatchie County, Mississippi in a tiny little farming community called Brazil and moved to Kentucky in 1989. |
